Reflections inspired by Mindfulness through Yoga with A.G. and Indra Mohan.
For to create more imbalance and disturbance of the mind within our practice is antithetical! How might we do this? Through attachment to the outer form of our asana practice; Through holding breath due to physically over exerting. Through aversion or labeling our efforts as good or bad.
"YOGA IS A MEANS OF COMING TO TERMS WITH OUR OWN MIND"
All yoga practices are means to an end.
The means in minding the Mind.
The practice is a process of building mental strength and bolstering our mental immune system. With the right internal attitude and intention, applying mental strength toward cultivating permanent peace (Satva) is the practice and goal of Yoga. Breath initiated movement is insufficient without awareness of what the mind is doing. Practicing Awareness without judgment builds mental strength, mental strength empowers self discipline. Self discipline affords us more peace in our lives by facilitating action that breaks the cycle of Samskara - The cycle of habitual and involuntary behaviour based on associative thinking patterns and latent impressions.
Bring about transformational change and creating permanent peace is in your hands. My thoughts are not mine.
